AcSIR-PGPRE

The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, is the largest publicly funded R&D organization in India covering practically the entire spectrum of scientific and Industrial research and development covering civil infrastructure, aerospace, ocean exploration, micro-electronics, structural and environmental engineering, smart materials, mechatronics, petrochemicals and synthetic biology.CSIR offers Post Graduate Research Program in Engineering at the various laboratories to groom Bright Young Engineers as Future Technology Leaders.

CSIR-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee and CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi are jointly offering a two year PG Research Program in “Engineering of Infrastructure and Disaster Mitigation (EIDM) (Buildings/ Roads). The curriculum of the course has been designed after recognizing the importance of two prime infrastructures, i.e., housing and roads, required for the socio-economic development of the country. The theme of disaster mitigation adequately addresses the requirement of mitigating the risk of disasters like earthquake, cyclone, flood, land slide and fire. Drawing from the rich experience of the scientists working in these CSIR laboratories, this course is designed to offer the participants a perfect blend of sound theoretical and practical knowledge.

The First Semester is common for students of both disciplines (Buildings/ Roads) and the core courses are offered at CSIR-CBRI, Roorkee. The course bifurcates to its specialization from the Second semester onwards and is being offered in the respective campuses of CBRI, Roorkee and CRRI, New Delhi. The Third and Fourth semesters give the opportunity to the candidates to effectively utilize the knowledge acquired through the courses towards dissertation in their specialized area.

The post graduate research program is aimed at training selected number of students as highly skilled professionals in Civil engineering with the proper academic and engineering credentials to assume leadership roles in industry, research and academia.

Students will get handsome amount of fellowship for their sustenance. Candidates completing the course with distinction will be considered for absorption within CSIR as regular scientists in PB3 (scale of ₹15600-39100 with grade pay of  ₹6600). For more details contact:
