Expression of Interest (EOI) “Production of bio-bitumen through pyrolysis of Lignocellulosic Biomass”

Overview
CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI) invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from eligible and experienced Indian firms for the production of bio-bitumen through pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass. This bio-bitumen, jointly developed by CSIR-CRRI and CSIR-IIP, offers an alternative binder that is durable, cost-effective, and suitable for diverse climatic and traffic conditions.

About the "Bio-bitumen"
This technology is designed to serve as an alternative to conventional petroleum-based bitumen, reducing dependency on crude oil imports while promoting environmentally friendly road construction. Developed bio-bitumen was tested and evaluated for its properties in comparison with conventional petroleum-based bitumen. The developed bio-bitumen can be successfully used for road construction.
The technology has been successfully validated through both laboratory studies and field trials, demonstrating excellent performance and operational feasibility
