EOI for “FOAMBANKMENT: Lightweight EPS Geofoam Technology for Road Embankments”

Overview

CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI) invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from eligible and experienced Indian firms for licensing and commercial utilization of FOAMBANKMENT: Lightweight EPS Geofoam Technology for Road Embankments, through its associated manufacturers. The technology provides a systematic approach for the design, quality control, and construction of lightweight road embankments using EPS geofoam/lightweight filling, particularly for critical stretches involving very soft/compressible soils and hill road widening.

About “FOAMBANKMENT”

FOAMBANKMENT is a technology know-how developed by CSIR-CRRI for the construction of lightweight road embankments using EPS geofoam/lightweight filling materials. The technology covers design methodology, quality checks, and construction methodology for reducing embankment loading and associated settlement-related challenges.

The technology is particularly suitable for road embankments over very soft and compressible soils, hill road widening, bridge approaches, and other critical stretches where reduction in embankment weight is essential. The technology provides an efficient alternative to conventional heavy earth-fill embankments in such challenging conditions.

Opportunities for Commercialization

CSIR-CRRI seeks EOIs from registered Indian firms with:

• Experience in the supply of raw materials used for manufacturing EPS/geofoam or related lightweight filling materials

• Established network with EPS/geofoam manufacturers and associated manufacturing industries

• Capability for reliable and consistent raw-material sourcing and supply

• PAN India or multi-state operational capabilities

• Interest in licensing and facilitating the commercial deployment of the FOAMBANKMENT technology through associated manufacturers

Submission Details

Interested parties must submit an EOI including the following:

• Company profile and experience in relevant raw material supply

• Details of existing manufacturing/industry network and associated manufacturers

• Details of raw materials supplied and geographical reach

• Proposed regions of operation and commercial deployment

• Proposed plan for facilitating adoption and commercialization of the technology

•Timeline for technology adoption and commercial deployment

• Contact details

Deadline for EOI Submission: 31 March 2027

EOIs should be sent via email to: pme [dot] crri [at] csir [dot] res [dot] in A hard copy of the EOI must also be submitted to the following address, with the envelope clearly superscribed: Subject: "EOI for Licensing of FOAMBANKMENT: Lightweight EPS Geofoam Technology for Road Embankments"
