EOI for “Self-Healing Asphalt Pavement Technology Using Microencapsulated Rejuvenator”

Overview

CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), New Delhi, invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from eligible and experienced Indian firms for licensing, scale-up, manufacturing and commercial deployment of a self-healing microcapsule technology for asphalt pavements. The technology has been developed by CSIR-CRRI in collaboration with CSIR-NCL, Pune and uses microcapsules containing a rejuvenator. It is intended to improve the durability and service performance of bituminous pavements through damage-triggered release of a rejuvenating agent within the asphalt mixture.

About the “Self-Healing Microcapsule Technology”

The technology addresses premature cracking and loss of healing capability in asphalt pavements caused by traffic loading, environmental exposure and binder aging. The microcapsules containing a rejuvenator are incorporated directly into the asphalt mixture. The capsules are designed to retain the rejuvenator during asphalt mixing and compaction and to release it when mechanical damage causes capsule rupture, thereby providing localized rejuvenation near developing cracks.

Opportunities for Commercialization

CSIR-CRRI seeks EOIs from registered Indian firms with:

  • PAN India operational capabilities
  • Interest in licensing and commercial-scale manufacturing/supply of the self-healing microcapsule technology.

Submission Details

Interested parties must submit an EOI including the following:

  • Company profile and experience
  • Area(s) of interest and proposed regions of operation
  • Supply chain and logistical readiness
  • Contact details

EOIs should be sent via email to: pme [dot] crri [at] csir [dot] res [dot] in

Hard copy may also be submitted with the envelope superscribed: "EOI for Licensing of Self-Healing Microcapsule Technology for Asphalt Pavements".
