Mobile Bridge Inspection Unit (MBIU)

The Mobile Bridge Inspection Unit (referred as MBIU) is an Electro-mechanically driven Articulated Structure mounted on a vehicle (a truck) as an aid towards proper inspection of bridges or similar infrastructures by enabling an inspection team of 3-4 persons carrying instruments access to the underside of bridge decks over flowing rivers or gorges.
Utilization of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in Road embankment

About 65-75% of segregated Municipal Solid Wastes can be used for embankment construction.Leachate studies indicate that MSW is a non hazardous material as concentration of heavy metals is within the permissible limit.Typical design cross sections have been arrived for 3m and 5m height MSW embankment.
Patch Fill-Pothole Repair Solution for Bituminous Roads

Patch-fill solution is useful for faster filling of potholes in bituminous roads without causing any environmental pollution and hindrance to roads users. Potholes filled by Path-fill shall be long lasting.
India hails success of first ‘steel-slag road’

A stretch of six-lane road experimentally paved with slag from steel-making in India has been shown to weather the beating from thousands of heavy trucks even though the surface is 30% shallower than that of roads paved with natural aggregates. Slag is made up of impurities melted out of the ore during the steel-making process. The trial, guided by the Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI) and sponsored by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS).

CSIR-CRRI Visit - for IP Filing Activity Reviews – 24th & 25th September 2024

A Patent Filing Activity was conducted at CSIR-CRRI during 24th and 25th September 2024 by CSIR-URDIP’s and CSIR-IPU’s officials. The activity was coordinated by Mrs. Nidhi, The IP Coordinator of CSIR-CRRI.

The activity included discussions with Director, IP Coordinator and other Scientists/PIs of CSIR-CRRI who have been inventors in various patent applications pending for over the past year, or proposed for filing during FY 2024–2025 or wants to propose for filing during FY 2025–2026. The discussions were attended by the following officials from CSIR-Innovation Protection Unit (CSIR-IPU) and CSIR- Unit for Research and Development of Information Products (CSIR-URDIP):

During the activity the CSIR-URDIP’s and CSIR-IPU’s officials made presentations regarding before and after patent filing process. In addition, the key issues encountered in regard to patent filings in CSIR–CRRI till date were addressed through discussions with the concerned Scientists / PIs. Further, new patent filings proposed during the current and the next year were also discussed. CSIR–URDIP’s and CSIR–IPU’s officials stated to extend necessary support for the same. Towards the end of the meeting deliberations, about 10 new potential inventions were identified, besides the ones that have already been filed, that could be taken forward by CSIR–CRRI to patent filing at the earliest, after due evaluation of Patentability and Techno–Commercial potential by CSIR–URDIP.
